Self-Surrender: The philosophy behind healing and growing

Self-surrender: The Spiritual Psychology behind healing and growing

In spiritual psychology, surrender is not a weakness—it is becoming one with a higher intelligence.
It is the moment your mind stops fighting life and begins flowing with it.

One of the clearest teachings on surrender appears in the Durga Saptashati.
In Chapter 13, Verse 18, the Vaishya realizes that his pain is not caused by the world, but by attachment.
When this truth settles inside him, he bows down before Goddess Durga and asks for mukti—the deepest form of healing and freedom.

We Are Born Knowing How to Surrender

Surrender is not something we need to learn—we are born with it.

A newborn child naturally falls into the mother’s arms with complete trust.
The mother nourishes, protects, and gives everything needed for the child’s growth.
This is the first and purest form of surrender.

As we grow up, the inner voices develop:

    “I want…”

    “I don’t want…”

    “I know…”

   “What if…?”

These voices make us forget the surrender we once lived in.

Surrender is not losing yourself—it is reconnecting to your original wisdom.

Surrender in Spiritual History

Some of the greatest transformations in Indian history began with surrender:

Swami Vivekananda, who surrendered to Sri Ramakrishna Paramhansa

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, who surrendered to Samarth Guru Ramdas

Arjuna, who surrendered to Shri Krishna

Their surrender did not make them weak—it made them clear, powerful, and dharmic.

In psychospiritual terms, surrender relaxes the ego so the higher self can lead.

What Happens Inside a Person Who Truly Surrenders?

1.Ego begin to quiet down

Surrender requires a big heart because it changes your relationship with your mind.
The voices that constantly ask questions, create doubts, and protect the ego begin to quiet down.

This is where healing begins.

2. The outer noise stops controlling you

Life will always test your surrender.
People may question you.
Situations may challenge your trust.

A person who surrenders learns to silence the external pressure and stay rooted inside their faith.

3. You become available to higher guidance

In surrender, you become receptive—to your guru, to the Divine Mother, or to your own higher intelligence.

This means you stop:

-overthinking

-carrying mental pressure

-trying to control everything

This inner freedom is a relief.
Your energy becomes available for clarity, purpose, and the right action.
